Gas fire pits come with one of two fuel options – natural gas or liquid propane. Both fuel sources work with the Warming Trends® CROSSFIRE® Brass Burners – specified at time of order – and both burn more cleanly than wood and require less maintenance.

Take our following tips into consideration before deciding whether natural gas or liquid propane will be best for your fire feature.

Tree-Style CROSSFIRE® Brass Burner available in Natural Gas or Liquid Propane

Natural Gas

Natural gas requires a permanent gas line to be installed by a certified gas installer, making it the perfect option for a permanent fire feature in your yard. This creates a constant fuel source and once the gas is connected, you’ll never have to worry about it running out of fuel. Not having to refill a propane tank will save you both time and money.

Liquid Propane

Liquid propane fire features require minimal installation. Using a connection similar to that of a BBQ grill, they do not need to be connected by a certified gas installer. Most propane tanks are small and portable, allowing for the flexibility to move your fire feature. Liquid propane typically costs more but burns more efficiently than natural gas, while creating a similar flame and heat output.

Both natural gas and liquid propane are safe to use when all instructions and safety guidelines are followed. Both offer similar flame height and heat output, are much lower maintenance than wood, and can be started and turned off by the simple flip of a switch.

Really insightful post! I’ve always wondered how the efficiency of natural gas stacks up against liquid propane for home heating. Do you think switching fuels would impact my energy bills significantly? Also, speaking of switch-ups, have you tried any cool levels on Geometry Dash Subzero that change the game like these fuel choices do?

Which option is truly optimal in terms of total cost of ownership over 5–10 years? From an interesting psychological perspective, the balance between long-term stability (natural gas) and flexible maneuverability (propane) is similar to the feeling of riding a Poly Track – where you have to choose between controlling stability or accepting speed and risk, and it is this balance that creates the complete experience.
